I’m Chosen-What’s Your Purpose?
Chaplain Byron Sterling
Introduction
God said, you have not chosen Him; but He has chosen you. God has chosen you for such a time as this. He looked beyond your faults. There are thousands, if not millions of people in this world, yet He has chosen you. What is so special about you? And yes, why not you!
You were once nothing, nobody, not important, no one looked at you, nor even acknowledged you. But look at you now, yes, you! God has made you somebody and has given you a purpose in life. Now you don’t just live for yourself, you live for others because you make a difference.
What does it means to be chosen –
Chosen: the past participle of “choose” (ba^char- a Hebrew verb)
As an Adjective} * to be selected * to be preferred * to be set apart
- To be of divine favor (I like this)
- To be consecrated to or for holy purpose ( I like this too)
- Now watch this “ to be marked for special favors and the favor of God
You are selected to do or receive something special…why not you!
Let Talk About You
- Maybe you can sing or maybe you can’t
- Maybe you can cook and maybe not
But there is something special about you. Let’s look at 1 Peter 2
Vs. 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Vs. 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
No matter who you are, you have a special purpose in life and you have been chosen for that purpose, whatever it is. May God continue to bless you and may His PEACE rest upon you always.
